Giampiero Bodino Mosaico, Primavera & Rosa dei Venti
Giampiero Bodino presents three mystery watches, hidden within as many spectacular unique high jewellery bracelets
— February 20th, 2017 —
Paris, Ritz Hotel, January 26th 2017 For the first time since the launch of his eponymous Maison, Mr Bodino is venturing into an old passion of his: watches.
These new magnificent products of his creation, that can be compared to bejewelled art pieces, are actual one of a kind high jewellery bracelets which discretely harbour a watch, protected by precious stones, hence hidden from instant view.
The creations spring from Giampiero Bodino’s most loved themes Mosaico, Primavera and Rosa dei Venti and are the perfect evidence of the artist’s utterly original design skills and refined taste.
A single impressive precious stone in the Rosa dei Venti watch, a flower made of diamonds and pink sapphire pavé for Primavera or yet a diamond encrusted circle in Mosaico, are hiding three quartz small time pieces that become accessible to the eye of its wearers only.
Here, time is hidden behind preciousness, beauty and rarity, like our own time: the greatest luxury of all.
These precious objects are reminiscent of the Maison’s style, contemporary and bold, yet classic and somewhat nostalgic of the past.
Primavera, is colourful and romantic and inspired by nature’s splendour, with hues of intense green of the emeralds that complement pink and white petals.
Mosaico is fiercely contemporary, strong, feminine in its roundness and very fashionable in its black and white appeal.
While Rosa dei Venti, combines strong shapes with softer feminine patterns, thanks to the articulated chain that forms its bracelet, which features fleur-de-lis motifs, a heraldic symbol for royalty.
During his career Mr Bodino’s artistic hand has been behind many important and jewellery watches, as the Director of Design for all the prestigious and famous brands belonging to the Richemont’s Group. Designing watches has always been one of his passions, but it is the first time that he has created watches, albeit almost invisible, under his own name.
The precious time pieces will be showing at the Hotel Ritz in Paris during Couture on Janury 26th 2017, and they will be sold as one of a kind creations to three connoisseurs only, never to be reproduced again.
With this romantic secret watch, Bodino captures the simple and spontaneous beauty of sweet briar roses. With natural shapes and colours, three-dimensional petals with pavé white diamonds and pink sapphires – dotted with a few grey diamonds to emphasise shadows and size – meet pistils in jonquille diamonds and yellow gold.
Gently pressing the bud triggers the opening mechanism to reveal, just below the largest rose, the secret watch. The pavé diamond dial is surrounded by interwoven branches in cognac diamonds and emerald leaves, immediately conveying the wild nature of this flower. Modern and simple, the bracelet comprises three rows of white diamonds that contrast with the floral design, emphasising its contemporary styling.
Primavera Secret watch – Quartz mouvement. Yellow diamond – 1.45 cts. Pink sapphires, emeralds, white, yellow, cognac and grey diamonds, white and yellow gold.
This timepiece features a mosaic of overlapping concentric circles – each culminating in a pointed centre – that create a geometric pattern. The design is accentuated by the contrast between diamonds, set in white gold and black spinels, set in white gold with a black rhodium finish. It is a secret, unexpected watch that is revealed by gently pressing the concealed button: the concentric circles of the pavé diamond dial echo the piece’s underlying pattern.
With a surface animated by the circular motifs’ myriad changes in inclination, this spring-mounted bracelet watch has a complex structure that perfectly incorporates the case of the timepiece. The interior’s openwork, consisting of patterns engraved in beautifully polished metal for volume and comfort without extra weight, repeats the hypnotic decoration that covers the entire piece.

Rosa dei Venti
Soft as lace with a supple edge, the bracelet of this secret watch takes its shape from the Fleur de Lys, the symbol often used to mark north on a compass rose. At its centre, an 11.49-carat Zambian cabochon emerald conceals a pavé diamond dial with white gold bâton pointu hands.
This is surrounded by vibrantly coloured symmetrical decoration: the blue of pear-shape sapphires, the green of non-faceted emeralds and the red of bezel-set rubies, mounted using a traditional technique where the metal surrounding the stone slightly overlays its edge, securing and protecting the gem. A bracelet watch with the subtlest of cases. A piece of jewellery embodying Bodino’s tireless pursuit of aesthetic perfection in proportion and form.
